Cameroon is rich in marine biological resources, particularly fisheries resources. To ensure that their exploitation is beneficial for all present and future generations, Cameroon has put in place national institutions to ensure that the implementation and enforcement of the regulations in force for the capture of these fishery resources is effective. Cameroon being a party to regional and international conventions, there is a great involvement of community and international institutions in the strengthening of fisheries management in Cameroon. In spite of the monitoring, control and surveillance system of the fisheries sector put in place by the government, this sector, which is one of the pillars of the economy of this country, is experiencing numerous problems in its effective development.
