Sans produits touristiques, une destination touristique ne peut se développer et si ses produits ne répondent pas aux besoins et aux attentes des touristes, il lui sera impossible de réaliser tout son potentiel. Pourtant, rares sont les destinations qui se penchent sur la façon de développer et d’offrir les curiosités et les activités qui entrent dans la composition du produit touristique. Le manuel OMT/CET intitulé Le développement de produits touristiques précise les éléments essentiels à prendre en compte pour planifier et développer des produits touristiques comme la coordination, la consultation, la collaboration ou la concurrence. Il illustre ces principes en présentant des approches et des études de cas qui ont été couronnées de succès dans diverses parties du monde et il propose des exemples de bonnes pratiques et des références qui permettront aux destinations d’évaluer leurs propres systèmes et méthodes de développement de produits.
