A leitura e a escrita são processos que se desenvolvem desde as primeiras etapas da educação formal, formando indivíduos alfabetizados, o sentido dos planos e programas do nível básico, bem como dos níveis secundário e superior, é que os alunos melhorem os seus hábitos de leitura e escrita.Neste artigo, consideramos a necessidade de desenvolver estratégias que ajudem os estudantes universitários a fomentar a maturidade profissional através da leitura crítica como fator potencial da escrita académica, destacando a diferença que existe entre a escrita e a escrita académica, esta última como um exercício intelectual que gere processos metacognitivos no escritor.
