Este livro é fruto duma pesquisa acadêmica realizada em 2009, e teve como objetivo analisar a situação do erro no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, a partir das concepções de professores de ciências do nível fundamental, fundamentada nas epistemologias de Gaston Bachelard e de Jean Piaget. Adotou-se, neste trabalho, uma concepção de erro baseada nestas duas epistemologias, as quais têm um sentido de crescimento cognitivo, logrando, respectivamente, tanto o progresso da ciência quanto do intelecto humano. Na pesquisa, foi utilizado o método hermenêutico-interpretativo para a apropriação dos referenciais teóricos e uma metodologia de abordagem qualitativa para a coleta e análise dos dados. Ao final do trabalho, pudemos concluir que os professores, ao mesmo tempo em que compreendem a importância do erro no processo de construção de conhecimento pelo educando, porém, ainda mantém uma prática tradicional perante este elemento constitutivo da construção do conhecimento.
