Pezzi e briciole di pellet di rodenticidi commerciali arrivano al laboratorio dell’Istituto di Criminalistica del Paraná da alimenti come caffè e tè. Pertanto, i metodi per determinare i loro principi attivi, che sono principalmente derivati della cumarina, sono indispensabili nelle indagini forensi. Tuttavia, i prodotti commercializzati hanno una bassa concentrazione di questi composti nella loro composizione, il che li rende difficili da analizzare. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di sviluppare un metodo per estrarre la cumarina brodifacoum da campioni commerciali e determinarla utilizzando la cromatografia liquida ad alte prestazioni (HPLC) con un rivelatore diode array (DAD). L’estrazione è stata effettuata presso la sede di Ecoville dell’Università Tecnologica Federale del Paraná (UTFPR) e il resto dell’analisi presso il laboratorio di scienze chimiche e biologiche dell’Istituto di medicina legale (IML) di Curitiba. È stata presentata una metodologia per la determinazione del brodifacoum nelle esche commerciali per rodenticidi in pellet che richiede meno di 10 mg senza la necessità di lunghe fasi di pulizia. Il metodo proposto si è rivelato soddisfacente ed è attualmente utilizzato dall’Istituto di Criminalistica del Paraná.
