Returning to Europe with her husband and entourage on the East Indiaman placed at her disposal by its wealthy English owner, a storm drives them onto a reef leaving them shipwrecked. More than half of them survive and eventually get back to England where their wealthy English patron purchases a frigate. Shi-yin learns Martinism in Marceille, and she is joined by a Sufi who returns to the Americas with her. Further adventures find her while crossing the Atlantic.
