George Bernard Shaw once said, “There is no sweeter love than the love of food.” I believe most would wholeheartedly agree as long as family, friends, faith and country are a higher priority. Stefanie’s cookery, generous manner, outgoing demeanor, sense of humor and hospitality regularly brought together family and friends who loved her cooking and enjoyed her company. Needless to say our home was open to all and our table was usually full. Cesar Chavez said, “The people who give you their food, give you their heart.” Thomas Kekker believed, “A recipe has no soul. You as the cook, must bring the soul to the recipe.” I can unequivocally write that to dine with Stefanie, you dined with someone who gave you in each delightful dish, part of her heart and soul. Hopefully you will take time to prepare some of her favorites that are presented in this publication, which is a tribute to my friend, mentor and woman whom I loved and called Mom.
