The time we considered in this volume correspondsto the reigns of Nicholas I that was the Emperor of Russia from 1825 until 1855. He was also the King ofPoland and Grand Duke of Finland. He is best known as a political conservative whose reign was marked bygeographical expansion, repression of dissent, economic stagnation, poor administrative policies, a corruptbureaucracy, and frequent wars that culminated in Russia’s defeat in the Crimean War of 1853–56.Our reprint in based on the original 19th century volumes. This part is distributed at now on six volumes.Our new edition, the first ever published in English, both on paper and digital format, boasts a large numberof color plates, many of them unpublished and re-coloured by our team of expert artists and scholars ofuniformology. Each volume is based on 100 color plates or more, always accompanied by the original translatedtext which describes the subjets of the plates.A unique work in its genre, a must have in any respecting collection!
