In world literature, the theme of feminism has emerged as an important literary theory that has been concerned with women’s identities and diverse issues at various levels. Like various literary movements, trends and ideologies in Urdu, ’Tanisiat’ (Feminism) has also established a unique identity in prose and poetry which cannot be ignored now. Thanks to its style of thought and language, ’Tanisiat’ in Urdu literature has now entered the stage that no literary history can be considered complete without women’s literature. Compiled by Farha Andaleeb, this book 'Rang Birang' is a collection of five short stories written by prominent female urdu writers Qurratulain Hyder, Mumtaz Shirin, Hijab Imtiaz Ali, Rasheed Jahan and Ismat Chughtai.
