Tras su tratamiento teológico y metafísico desde los primeros siglos, el tema de la persona se ha oscurecido en la filosofía moderna de corte cartesiano, al ponerse en cuestión las categorías clásicas con que se la había caracterizado. Sin embargo, en el siglo XX reaparece convirtiéndose en foco central en autores procedentes de la fenomenología, la filosofía de la mente, la filosofía de la acción, la antropología contemporánea y el así llamado personalismo. El presente libro ofrece una visión histórica, indagando en los motivos de tránsito a la persona desde el idealismo y la fenomenología en Husserl, Scheler o Edith Stein. La segunda parte lo aborda de un modo sistemático, examinando su fisonomía propia, su apertura coexistencial constitutiva y su dimensión antropológico-moral.Es un motivo recurrente en la producción filosófica de Urbano Ferrer, catedrático emérito de Filosofía Moral y, aunque ha avanzado en distintos aspectos con posterioridad, en él se hallan las líneas básicas que ha recorrido después, mostrando su fecundidad.
