Juni 1960 seine politische Unabhängigkeit erlangte und in seiner Geschichte verschiedene politische Systeme durchlief, von Monarchie bis Totalitarismus, um sich schließlich für ein demokratisches System zu entscheiden, in dem die Macht vom Volk ausgeht und für das Volk ausgeübt wird.Die DRK erlebte ihre ersten demokratischen Wahlen im Jahr 2006, gefolgt von den Wahlen 2011 und 2018. Nach diesen Wahlen entstand in der kongolesischen Bevölkerung ein Bedürfnis nach Erneuerung der politischen Klasse, da sie der Meinung ist, dass die alternde politische Klasse nicht mehr in der Lage ist, die von der Bevölkerung erwarteten Ergebnisse zu erzielen, weshalb sich bei den letzten Wahlen so viele junge Menschen beteiligt haben.
