Il policy-based computing è uno degli strumenti che possono essere utilizzati per costruire sistemi che si autogestiscono (sistemi autonomi); questi sistemi sono in grado di autogestirsi e di riaggiustarsi dinamicamente per ripristinare l’equilibrio tra politiche e obiettivi aziendali. I sistemi autonomi dispongono di meccanismi che consentono loro di monitorare, regolare e controllare se stessi, riprendendosi dai problemi senza ricorrere all’aiuto umano. Questo libro, intitolato 'Policy -based Computing with Selinux', analizza l’attuale situazione della sicurezza del sistema operativo Linux e cerca di affrontare le sfide attraverso il policy based computing. Il progetto mirava a un meccanismo che permettesse una riconfigurazione flessibile del meccanismo di sicurezza del sistema operativo Linux. Il tutto si è basato su una ricerca che tratta la riconfigurazione basata su policy utilizzando le politiche Agile e la libreria Agile Lite. Per interagire con le politiche è stato utilizzato il linguaggio di programmazione C.
