In enger Verbindung dazu steht seine politische Lehre, mit dem Staat als die Form des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens, die am ehesten dazu geeignet ist, ein vollkommenes Leben zu garantieren. Um in etwa bestimmen zu können, welches Verhalten und welche Eigenschaften denn nun zu einem guten Leben führen, nimmt Aristoteles sich allgemein für gültig erachtete Meinungen (endoxa) vor, prüft und analysiert sie, um so dann theoretisches Wissen über ethisch vollkommenes Verhalten daraus ableiten zu können.Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen dabei die Begriffe des Glückes (eudaimonia) und der Tugend (aretê).Diese sollen im Folgenden genauer beleuchtet werden. Beginnen wir mit dem Glück.
