In dieser Lehrgeschichte scheint Fatimas Leben vom Unglück verfolgt zu sein. Ihre Reise führt sie von Marokko zum Mittelmeer nach Ägypten, in die Türkei und schließlich nach China. Was dann in China geschieht, macht ihr bewusst, dass all die früheren Erlebnisse auf ihrer Reise, die sie als hartes Los empfand, letztendlich wesentliche Bausteine für ihr heutiges Glück und ihre Erfüllung waren. Diese Lehrgeschichte ist auch als griechisches Volksmärchen bekannt. Die vorliegende Version wird allerdings dem Scheich Mohamed Jamaludin von Adrianopel (heute Edirne) in der Türkei zugeschrieben, der 1750 verstarb. Sie wurde ursprünglich 1967 von Idries Shah veröffentlicht und erschien in seinem klassischen Werk Die Weisheit der Narren - Geschichten der Sufimeister. Junge Leser können Bezüge zu ihrem eigenen Leben herstellen und werden dazu animiert, über die tiefere Bedeutung von Unglück, Chancen und höchstem Glück nachzudenken. Die Geschichte bietet auch eine gute Gelegenheit, Vokabular und Lesefähigkeiten bei Kindern zu fördern, während sie sich gleichzeitig mit guter Literatur befassen. In der Sufi-Tradition sind Kindergeschichten, Volksmärchen und Lehrgeschichten oft eng miteinander verwoben. Eine Geschichte kann Kindern helfen, schwierige Situationen zu meistern und ihnen Halt und Unterstützung bieten. Sie kann aber auch bei Erwachsenen Einsicht und tieferes Verständnis erwecken.
