Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo comparar dois Softwares de Representação de projetos de arquitetura, AutoCAD como exemplo de tecnologia de representação 2D bidimensional e Revit como exemplo de tecnologia BIM, com ênfase no recorte tempo de execução de desenho. Após conceituar o sistema CAD e sistema BIM, foi observado o contexto histórico em que essas plataformas se desenvolveram e com base nas informações levantadas e interpretações dos autores citados, avalia-se de modo prático a hipótese de que Revit é a plataforma mais eficiente. De forma especulativa, foram levantados dados de escritórios que utilizam ambas as tecnologias. Se o AutoCAD é a evolução da prancheta, o Revit seria a evolução da maquete, entendível em todas suas angulações, modificável de acordo com as relações entre os elementos conjuntos e compreensível através da geometria como resultado final de um modelo paramétrico inteligente.
