For too many decades to admit, I have taken kids out on nature excursions to get dirty, have fun, catch critters, and learn about our shared natural world. There is nothing in the world like the excitement of a kid catching something alive, be it a ladybug, a tadpole, a fish, or a crayfish. But inevitably the question arises, 'Can I keep it?' And the person in charge always has to be the bad guy with the response, 'No!' This story helps kids to figure out this answer themselves. So, I wish you happy wandering, happy exploring, happy catching, and happy not having to say, 'No!'
