O presente livro aborda o tema da relação entre a exploração da vulnerabilidade na atual mobilidade humana internacional e o crescimento do mercado da pesca ilegal, não declarada e não regulamentada (INN) a qual produz janelas de oportunidades à prática de crimes relacionados ao tráfico de pessoas e escravos para o trabalho forçado. Um dos principais resultados revelados foram as atrocidades e violações de direitos humanos cometidas a bordo de navios de pesca INN, sobretudo contra trabalhadores migrantes que saíram do seu país de origem em busca de melhores condições de vida. Esse trabalho, além de uma homenagem a todas às pessoas que sofrem e já sofreram na mão da indústria da pesca ilegal, também é um alerta a respeito das atrocidades cometidas em mar.
